Privacy Policy

Open GhostShell (“the App”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected, why, and where it goes.

1. Overview

The App is an AI companion. To provide chat, voice, and media features, some data you provide may be sent to AI services you choose. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising or tracking.

2. Account information

If you create an account or sign in, we collect:

• Email address
• Username
• Password (stored hashed on our servers; never shown in the App)

This is used only for authentication, account management, and optional usage/credit tracking for Shell Pro.

3. Content you create or attach

When you use AI features, the App may send:

• Chat messages you type
• Files you attach (text extracted from documents such as PDF/DOC/DOCX and similar)
• Voice audio during an active full-screen voice call
• Prompts for optional image or video generation

This content is sent only when you actively use those features.

4. Where content is sent (user-selectable)

In Config you choose a provider:

• Shell Pro — routed through our backend (openghostshell.com). Some AI processing may be forwarded to xAI (Grok) for chat, voice, image, and video.
• Grok (xAI) — api.x.ai, using your own API key
• OpenAI — api.openai.com, using your own API key
• OpenRouter — openrouter.ai; media/voice may route through our proxy to xAI when signed in
• Custom — any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you enter

Optional MCP servers you add may receive tool requests you enable.

5. Data stored on your device

• Chat history and settings (local storage)
• API keys (iOS Keychain)
• Auth token (iOS Keychain)
• Generated media files in the App sandbox

Deleting the App removes local data. Signing out clears the local auth session.

6. Microphone

The microphone is used only during full-screen voice calls you start. Audio is streamed to the selected realtime AI provider for that session.

7. What we do not do

• We do not sell personal data
• We do not use third-party advertising SDKs
• We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites
• We do not send data to AI providers in the background for marketing

8. Third-party services

Third-party AI providers process data under their own privacy policies (xAI, OpenAI, OpenRouter, and any custom endpoint you configure). Review those policies before using their services with your own keys.

9. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the App and on the website with a new “Last updated” date.
